WHAT LA STYLE BLOGGERS DID FOR NYFW

WHAT LA STYLE BLOGGERS DID FOR NYFW

Some of Los Angeles’ top style bloggers were out in full force at New York Fashion Week. Below, we chat with eight of the city’s best about what they wore, the designers that caught their eye, and other fashion-related thoughts.

SYDNE SUMMER OF SYDNE STYLE

Sydne is wearing a Trina Turk top and skirt, Parker jacket, Brahmin bag, vintage belt, Luca + Stella and Henri Bendel bracelets, Ily Couture and Gorjana rings, Marilyn Monroe sunglasses, and JustFab shoes.

Is there a particular Spring 2015 trend that stood out to you at NYFW?
SYDNE SUMMER: The little white dress. It was everywhere and it works for everyone!

Which runway/presentation look was your favorite at NYFW?
SS: Monique Lhuillier's perfect pink dress. The show was my absolute favorite of the week and I loved how the dress was both timeless yet very on-trend.

How do you pack for NYFW?
SS: I try to stick to one color palette. This season, I went with some of fall's most popular colors: black, gray, blue, and red. I also plan out all my outfits in advance. There's nothing worse than rushing to a show because you couldn't figure out what to wear!

GREGORY DAVALOS OF DOWNTOWN DAVA

Gregory is wearing a jacket, sweater, pants, and shoes by Reiss, rag & bone hat, John Varvatos sunglasses, and Louis Vuitton bag from Fashionphile.com.

GREGORY DAVALOS: I'm a huge fan of a monochromatic look and saw a lot of white on white on the runway and in the streets.

Which runway/presentation look was your favorite at NYFW?
GD: This year my favorite show, hands down, was the BCBG Max Azria show. BCBG partnered with Instagram shopping tool, Like to Know It. By "liking" an Instagram photo from the collection, the user received an emailed link to shop the flowing, bohemian looks directly from the runway!

What do you carry in your bag during NYFW?
GD: I don't leave home without my Samsung NX30 and NX300, Blue Print cleanse to avoid carbs—after all, no one eats at Fashion Week—and Diptyque Philosykos Roll On Perfume Oil.

JACEY DUPRIE OF DAMSEL IN DIOR

Jacey is wearing a Rachel Zoe Dress, Ray-Ban Mirrored Aviator sunglasses, Vita Fede Mini Crystal V rings, Logan Hollowell necklace, Prada bag, and Saint Laurent booties.

JACEY DUPRIE: There was an overall ‘60s-style vibe that really stood out in all of the shows. I loved the pretty pastels at Jill Stuart and the fun music-festival vibe of Tommy HilfigerTory Burch and her collections always impress me. I love how she combines girlie elegance with a modern edge. The color light/baby blue is sticking in my mind as a hue that was consistent in most shows.

Which runway ensemble was your favorite at NYFW?
JD: There is always an outfit that walks down the runway that I literally cannot wait to wear, and this season it was an adorable polka-dot dress by Lela Rose. If you hear the words "polka dot" you may not think elegant, sophisticated, and chic, but that is exactly what this dress is.

Do you have a personal style motto?
JD: If it doesn't feel right, it isn't.

ASHLEY FULTZ OF THE STYLE EDITRIX

Ashley is wearing a Topshop crop top, Zimmermann racer motor skirt, ShoeDazzle heels, Maison Antonym rose gold collar necklace, DVF studded clutch, and bracelets by Giles & Brother.

Is there a particular Spring 2015 trend that stood out to you at NYFW?
ASHLEY FULTZ: Pastels are a major trend come spring—specifically a lot of pinks and blues. It really stood out the first day at BCBG and Tadashi and then later at ZimmermannRebecca Taylor, and Monique Lhuillier.

Which runway/presentation look was your favorite at NYFW?
AF: Monique Lhuillier is always my favorite show in terms of fashion. It is definitely one of the shows where you pinch yourself because you can’t believe you are there. The fabrics, the silhouettes, and Monique herself are all so beautiful, and this year they made it rain with sequins on the runway for the last half of the show. I had chills. Tommy Hilfiger is always impressive too because it is so Americana and classic with a huge production and venue.

What's one item in your closet that you will never get tired of wearing?
AF: My AG Jeans leatherette pants—they go with everything from tennis shoes to the chicest pair of boots.

TOMMY LEI OF MY BELONGING

Tommy is wearing a DAMIR DOMA SILENT tank top, COS sleeveless blazer, Deepstyle skort, Acne Studios shoes, LZZR Jewelry accessories, and sunglasses by KTZ x Linda Farrow Helmet sunglasses. Hair by Chad Kenyon and Alan Martinez of Salon Benjamin.

TOMMY LEI: Time and time again, individuality was an important trend. Designers who believe in their aesthetic and philosophy have a strong tendency to design with their core customer in mind. I can confidently say that I’ve seen a trend that fits any style personality.

Which runway/presentation look was your favorite at NYFW?
TL: By far, Pyer Moss at Milk Studios during MADE Fashion Week. I am big on moto-style and leather anything with clean lines and clever use of geometric shapes. Kerby Jean-Raymond successfully pulled that all off.

Do you have a personal style motto?
TL: There’s a mantra that I was once told: “Don’t be the football of everyone’s opinions.” It’s not a reference to the sport—but basically, always do you and listen to your inner instincts!

JENNY WU OF GOOD, BAD, AND FAB

JENNY WU: It feels like pants, particularly slinky trousers, are having a moment on the runway. I love the overt sophistication and covert sex appeal!

Which runway/presentation look was your favorite at NYFW?
JW: I really liked Marissa Webb's collection! The tailored blazers and edgy dresses perfectly balance high fashion with ready-to-wear appeal. The black deconstructed trench coat was my absolute favorite.

What's a great day-to-night look for LA women?
JW: LA is the land of sunshine and casual chic, so jeans and tees are part of our style DNA. For me, a timeless LA outfit is pairing a simple but luxe white tee with dark skinny leg jeans (DSTLD is my fave), ankle boots, and a black fedora. At night, I'd switch out the fedora for a bold statement-making collar necklace and layer with a tailored black blazer.

ROXANA VELAZCO OF HELLO IT’S ROXIE

Roxana is wearing a Topshop tee, Zara skirt, and Adidas sneakers.

Is there a particular Spring 2015 trend that stood out to you at NYFW?
ROXANA VELAZCO: I'm a great believer in comfort, especially when dressing up. I was very excited to see that a lot of the SS15 collections were minimal with simple silhouettes. I did notice some bold colors, which I loved, and lots of boxy and boyish looks, which happen to be my favorite!

Which runway/presentation look was your favorite at NYFW?
RV: My favorite three were Christian Siriano—feminine, elegant, layers, icy colors—Baja East—sporty, oversized, laid back, earth tones—and Tibi—minimal, chic, oversized, clean, and feminine.

What's your personal style motto?
RV: Have fun, be comfy, and wear whatever makes you feel great.

JENNY BERNHEIM OF MARGO & ME

Jenny is wearing a Cameo dress, Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, and an Olympia Le-Tan purse from Monnier Freres UK.

Is there a particular Spring 2015 trend that stood out to you at NYFW?
JENNY BERNHEIM: If there's one trend that the Polar Vortex might be responsible for, it's spring coats! From Marissa Webb to Jason Wu and Wes Gordon, the trench has some serious staying power this spring. Get ready for soft dusters and structured trenches in beautiful neutral hues.

Which runway/presentation look was your favorite at NYFW?
JB: Being a girlie girl at heart, I love nothing more than the feminine side of dressing. Monique Lhuillier's show was as magical as it gets.

What was the first fashion item you fell in love with?
JB: The very first things that come to mind are the vintage frocks and jewels that my grandmother would let my sister and I play dress up in growing up.
